Cautions & Contraindication of Reiki Drumming

Although sound healing has been used for centuries all over the world as a wellbeing practice and is very safe and effective. There are some occasions when it is advisable to speak with your practitioner before you participate in an event.

Sound Healing Therapy is a non evasive treatment in which various instruments tuned to specific frequencies are played.

While sound healing is very therapeutic and relaxing, there are some conditions when either cautions should be exercised or there may possibly be a total contraindication.

  • Tinnitus - the sounds may aggravate existing tinnitus, although many tinnitus sufferers attends a Reiki drumming bath without any adverse effects (caution only)

  • Menieres Disease

  • First trimester of pregnancy contraindicated and thereafter if at risk, otherwise OK to receive

  • Advanced stages of cancer

  • Those who have pacemakers fitted unless with doctor’s approval.

  • Epilepsy

  • Recent Hip/Joint Operations, Metal Implant (there is some inconclusive research as to weather people who have metal pins or plates in their body can attend)

  • Severe Osteoporosis

  • Severe Mental Health Illness

  • Sound Sensitive & highly sensitive people (you may want to position yourself further away from the source of the sounds & request no sound is directed at you during the session)

Hearing impaired or deaf people( sound healing can very much still benefit people who are unable to hear the sounds as we receive the healing vibrations through our body. I would suggest anyone who is hearing impaired to be closer to the instruments.
